The BSP (Board Support Package) Porting Kit assists developers in porting VxWorks* to the platform of their choice. With it, developers can construct their own BSPs, and take advantage of VxWorks on target hardware that incorporates any supported processor. This could be either a custom-designed board or a commercial board that is not already supported by Wind River Systems.
The BSP Porting Kit is supplied in a number of different packages, to support a wide range of development efforts. The Base Porting Kit is intended for VxWorks developers using custom or embedded hardware with less-advanced I/O requirements. It consists of full documentation, the validation suite, and a template BSP. Additional BSPs can be purchased if further examples are desired.
The Porting Kit Value Option is targeted at developers using hardware with SCSI and/or networking subsystems. It consists of all elements of the Base Kit, and adds source code for one SCSI driver and one Ethernet driver. These drivers can be selected from the list of currently supported VxWorks drivers or additional drivers can be purchased if required.
The Porting Kit Quickstart Option consists of all elements of the Value Option, and adds 40 hours of porting assistance by Wind River Systems Engineering. Additional assistance can be purchased in 40-hour increments. All services are per-formed at Wind River Systems sites.
Once a new BSP has been completed and has successfully passed the Porting Kit Validation Test Suite, it can be submitted to Wind River Systems for validation. Although they are neither sold nor sup-ported by Wind River Systems, validated BSPs are listed as "recommended BSPs" in Wind River Systems literature.
